Meet Christine, my Arctic White 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.6. I bought her in July 2022, and she’s been an ongoing exercise in making a classic Mercedes my own ever since. Liz affectionately named her Christine. I choose to believe that’s a compliment.
The M103 2.6-liter straight-six and unmistakable W201 shape remain at the heart of the build.
Getting the stance and fitment right has been one of the most satisfying parts: gloss-white AMG Aero Monoblock I lightweight wheels, with 17×7.5 ET37 fronts wearing 215/45R17 Kenda KR20As, and 17×8.5 ET30 rears wearing 235/40R17 KR20As.
Factory W201 Sportline springs, KYB shocks and struts, and upgraded H&R front and rear sway bars bring the setup together. Garagistic factory-style AMG front fender spacers and a light roll at the tops of the rear fender lips provide clearance. For me, it’s the perfect combination.
A black ducktail spoiler, front chin spoiler, smoked taillights, and 3M ceramic tint throughout—including nearly clear film across the full windscreen—complete the exterior. All lighting is LED, including the low and high beams, with yellow/amber fog lights adding another distinctive touch.
Inside, the original Grey MB-Tex upholstery (178/178A) remains flawless. Factory wood trim and analog instruments share the cabin with an ATOTO S8 Android head unit running CarWebGuru, Recoil component and coaxial speakers, and a Recoil powered underseat subwoofer. Even the cupholder is personal: I designed and 3D-printed it, then painted it to match the interior.
Behind the photographs is the steady work of ownership: ignition, brakes, cooling, suspension, and keeping a 35-year-old Mercedes ready for another drive. I document the progression through automotive photography and drone footage, capturing the details as the build evolves.
Every change has a story. There’s always another idea.
