How the registry works.

What we ask before a build goes live

Every build page becomes a record other owners rely on, so a few basics keep it accurate.

• A real Mercedes. Any chassis, any state: stock, restored, modified, or an unfinished project. The W201 is our deepest section, and every Benz worth documenting is welcome.
• At least one clear photo you own or have the right to post. Phone photos are fine. Watermarked press shots and other people's images are not.
• Honest specs. List what is actually fitted. If the engine is swapped, say so. If a power figure is a claim rather than a dyno result, label it as a claim.
• A chassis, a model and a location, so your car files under the right section and places on the world map.

New builds are held for a quick review before they appear. Pages that are blank, duplicated, or clearly not a Mercedes are not published.

How a build reaches the Top Benz

Featured builds are chosen by the editor and cannot be bought.

• We look for cars that are well documented and accurately specified.
• We favour builds that add something the registry does not already hold: a rare variant, an unusual market, a chassis we have not documented yet, a careful restoration, or a build log that teaches other owners something.
• Points and leaderboard position reward documenting your car well. They do not buy a feature.
• Being featured awards points and a place in the Top Benz.

Keeping the Q&A useful

The Q&A is for Mercedes knowledge that outlasts a single thread, whatever the chassis.

• Search first. If your question is already answered, add to that thread instead of starting another.
• Be specific. Name the chassis and engine: "Won't start when hot, 2.3-16, after replacing the fuel pump relay" gets a better answer than "help".
• Answer in good faith. Cite a manual, a part number, or your own experience where you can, and mark the answer that solved it so the next owner finds it fast.
• No selling in the Q&A. Parts and cars belong in the classifieds.

Trading safely in the classifieds

Classifieds connect owners directly. We do not handle payments or vet sellers, so trade carefully.

• Meet, inspect, and verify before you pay. See the part or car in person where you can.
• Be wary of anything that moves off-platform quickly, asks for unusual payment methods, or pressures you to act fast.
• Never send a deposit for a car you have not had inspected. Work through the rust inspection sheet and the buyer's guide first.
• List honestly. Describe condition and faults as they are, and mark a listing sold once it sells.

Fixing mistakes and removing content

We aim to be accurate and will correct errors quickly.

• Spotted a wrong date or figure? Tell us through the garage and we will correct it.
• Posting requires an account and basic respect for other members. Harassment, spam, and impersonation get content removed and accounts closed.
• If a photo or listing is yours and was posted without permission, contact us and we will take it down.
