I built this 190E on the W201 chassis as a tribute to the DTM cars that raced under the same nameplate. Based in Tokyo, the car runs under a simple format I keep consistent across every post: DTM / my 190e / JAPAN. That is what the build is about.

The wheel and brake choices reflect the direction I wanted to take it. Rays Volk Racing TE37s and AP Racing brakes are fitted, hardware that suits the track-oriented character I was after. The engine carries an M113 unit with AMG tuning, and the car is driven regularly rather than kept static.

In June 2026 I noted that the engine had been reinstalled after around a year of downtime. Work like that is part of keeping an older car in the condition I want it. The 190E shows up at Daikoku PA for gatherings and took part in the M.B.Z. 2025 Mercedes-only event, where it received an award. Some years before that, it was featured in a Hungarian television programme, which was not something I had anticipated.

The car is a daily build in the sense that it continues to be worked on and driven. There is nothing finished about it.
